Bold. Not Itallic. BMW X2 officially launched in Malaysia!

X-Citing news from BMW Malaysia. The BMW X2 is finally launched in Malaysia!

Just a few days ago BMW Group Malaysia introduced the BMW X2, the latest model to the premium automaker’s sports activity coupes. Created to transform the compact premium segment, the all new X2 features unmistakably sporty, dynamic and urban design cues from the latest line up of X models. The Range Rover Evoque has held its throne long enough don’t you think?

When it comes to driving dynamics the X2 is not all show. Under the hood lies the sDrive20i variant’s twin power turbo 4-cylinder petrol combined with a 7-speed steptronic sport double-clutch transmission which allows for a top speed of 227km/h from its overall system output of a modest 192hp and 280nm of torque, which also makes the car sprint from 0-100km/h in a respectable 7.7 seconds.

As of the features for the X2 is decently kitted as you will get on a modern day BMW such as comfort access with motion-activated opening of tailgate, BMW Connected Drive with Emergency Call Tele-services, concierge services, BMW online and BMW remote services. A heads up display, Navigation plus with 8.8 inch touch display with the basic 6 speakers also comes as standard.

When it comes to driving assistance, the X2 comes equipped with park assistant which helps parallel parking together with a standard parking camera which makes parking that much easier. Besides cruise control with braking function, the X2 will not come with any autonomous driving systems that Volvo offers with their XC60 in our market.

So the question now his how much does it costs? The fully-imported BMW X2 sDrive M Sport is priced at RM320,800 without insurance. BMW full circle programme is also available on this model with a monthly installment from RM 4,498 with 20% down payment on a four year tenure and with 20,000 KM mileage cap per year. All new BMW now also come with a segment leading 5 year warranty together with free scheduled service programme together with a BMW tyre warranty programme.

As for color offering, the BMW X2 comes in 4 colors to choose from: Galvanic Gold metallic, Misano Blue metallic, Sunset Orange metallic & Black Sapphire metallic. The Black Sapphire model is also the only variant which allows for a red leather interior option.

So what do you think? Would you spend this money to stand out from the crossover crowd? Or would you pick value and safety and go for the more elegant Volvo XC60?

Big thanks to Jonathan for the writeup and photos!
