BMW Motorrad C 400 X, C 400 GT, F 750 GS, & R 1250 RT officially launched in Malaysia!

BMW Motorrad Malaysia recently announced their expansion of their product portfolio in the adventure, touring and urban scooter segments with the all-new BMW F 750 GS, R 1250 RT, C 400 X and also the C 400 GT respectively.

Let’s begin with the BMW C 400 X and the C 400 GT urban scooters. Both are powered by an efficiency-optimized single-cylinder engine with an engine capacity of 350cc alongside with the Continuously Variable Transmission (CVT), vibration decoupling and also the availability of the Automatic Stability Control (ASC) as a standard package.

The engine produces 34 horsepower (25kW) at 7,500 rpm and a total of 35Nm peak torque at 6,000 rpm. A torsional drivetrain swing arm was included to reduce the vibration. Rounding of the whole package is a 15” front wheel and a 14” rear wheel.

To give you a better idea on how ASC work, the latest safety technology by BMW Motorrad, the ASC basically limits the amount of torque that is transmitted according to condition of the road. The C 400 X and C 400 GT both are fitted with a twin disc brake with a size of 265mm at the front and a single disc 265mm sized brake at the rear, and comes with Anti-lock Braking System (ABS) as a standard.

Both models are also featured with the new advanced Keyless ride where everything can be activated by the vehicle key. The bike also has the options of Connectivity to stay connected at all times in which riders are able to navigate through the usage of the BMW Motorrad Connected App. There is enough room for storage under the seat where it could accommodate 1 full-face helmet and 1 open-face helmet, where there are 2 smaller storage by the dashboard to hold smaller items.

To conclude this, the C 400 X comes with 3 different paint finishes which is the Zenith Blue, Black Storm and also the Alpine White while the C 400 GT do also come with 3 different finishes which are Alpine White, Moonwalk Grey and also Black Storm (our personal favorite for the C 400 GT would be the Moonwalk Grey. So sleek!). The price starts from RM 44,500 for the C 400 X and RM 48,500 for the C 400 GT.

Moving on to the second launched bike of the day, which is the BMW R 1250 RT. BMW has been well known for their 2 main models, which would be the GS and RT models. Let’s see what they have in store for the all new BMW R 1250 RT.

Going through the numbers again, the heart of the bike is an advanced boxer engine which produces 136 hp of and 143Nm of torque. The engine capacity of the bike has also increased from the previous 1,170 cc to a whooping 1,254 cc. With this bike, BMW has introduced the all new BMW ShiftCam Technology.

What is BMW’s ShiftCam Technology and what does it do? The technology allows variations in the valve timing and valve stroke on the intake side. At low RPM, both the intake and exhaust valves shut quickly for less overlap, promoting low-end torque and vice versa for high RPM. The intake camshafts allows the asynchronous opening of the two intake valves which would result in more fresher mixture which equals to effective combustion.

Previously the bike runs on a roller chain but now with a toothed chain. The other few things that has been newly introduced would be the optimized oil supply, twin-jet injection valves and an all new exhaust system to, you know, sound good.

As usual, most of the newer models of BMW motorcycles comes with the ASC and ABS as standard. Hill Start Control however, is the one I found most useful, where the bike would be able to activate the parking brake when during a standstill on an inclined surface. Also to be introduced for the BMW R 1250 RT would be the Riding Modes Pro where there would be Dynamic Traction Control (DTC), Hill Start Control Pro and also the Dynamic Brake Assistant (DBC).

The Dynamic Electronic Suspension Adjustment (ESA) is the future of electronic suspension in BMW Motorrads where the suspension would finely tune the suspension according to the surface and riding patterns to provide the riders with a more comfortable and a more steady riding experience. A form of adaptive suspension if you will.

The bike comes with 3 different paint finishes with Sport Style dynamic Mars Red, Elegance Style in a sleek Carbon Black finish, and last but not least the Alpine White for a timeless look. Prices starts from RM 139,500. With so many variants on offer, there’s always a BMW Motorrad that will suit your need, so go test ride one yourself today!
