First look of the new Ferrari 458 Spider!

It may not feel like it but it had already been nearly two years since Ferrari launched their awesome 458 Italia. With it’s sublime driving ability while still able to be as usable as an everyday car made the 458 Italia an icon and a force to be reckon with among it’s other supercar rivals. Ferrari had finally revealed official photos and a video of their latest 458 model, the convertible Spider!

Unlike the the previous F430 Spider (some people spell it as Spyder) which uses a retractable soft top, the 458 Spider now uses a foldaway hardtop made with a single piece of aluminium to save weight. The result is being 25kg lighter and a significantly faster roof-down time of just 14 seconds. Ferrari achieved this by having the single piece roof simply flip back and tucked away into a tonneau cover right in front of the engine bay.

There is also a new feature which is an adjustable electric wind stop which could slow down and diffuse the air inside the car to minimize wind noise in the cock pit when the roof is down. Ferrari also claims that this feature could even allow passenger to have a normal conversation inside the car at up to  200 km/h (124mph). Can’t wait to see people trying that out!

No further details have been given ahead of it’s Frankfurt Motor Show debut but we do know that it would still be powered by the same great 4.5-liter V8 with over 562hp. The new Ferrari 458 Spider will go on sale early next year and expect a slightly higher price to go with it. Watch the video below to see the roof in action!
