BMW Group Malaysia new HQ and locally-assembled X6 launch!

Locally-assembled BMW X6 launch

BMW Malaysia recently introduced their latest flagship model in the CKD, locally-assembled line up. The new X6 xDrive35i M Sport. And what better place to present it than in their brand new headquarters in Cyberjaya! And what a HQ, BMW Malaysia was definitely very proud of their new building and it also happens to coincide with BMW Malaysia’s 11-year anniversary celebration of operation in Bolehland.

Before we have a quick tour of the new HQ, let’s get the facts and figures of the local spec X6 out of the way. Costing RM666,888 compared to a fully imported version which costs around RM720k, the locally assembled X6 comes with the well-known 3 litre, inline six petrol engine producing 306hp, with a top speed of 240kph and comes mated with the 8-speed ZF transmission.

Spec is pretty high too, with the M Sport kit coming in as standard. So if you are already interested in one, there’s no better time to get one. Until the Mercedes GLE Coupe arrives of course, but that may very likely cost a lot more.

Now back to the HQ. Even the uninformed could tell that a significant renovation have taken place from the scent of new furnitures, spotless floor, and vibrant paint on the walls. On the white-collar side of things, there’s a relocation of departments to provide an overall more spacious office area which also allows interaction between staffs.

There’s also a new pantry, and even the cafeteria is shifted to the first floor in order to accommodate more staffs. And if you’re not feeling hungry during your break, there is even a table football for the staffs to play which I suspect will be left untouched, because we Malaysians are always hungry.

The blue-collar side of the HQ on the other hand, there is an increased number of training rooms to provide both practical and technical training to staffs by qualified technicians and engineers. As for facilities, there’s new projectors and LCD screens to be used during meetings and even a 3D-printing machine from Germany which opens up more possibilities for training.

With certain areas looking like cosy sections of an IKEA store, it is clear that BMW Malaysia do care about their staffs and the tour proved to us that offices and cubicles don’t have to be boring, and a happy staff is also a productive one. Now is it break time yet? All these typing is making me hungry.
