Toyota 4Runner facelift officially revealed!

What you are looking at right now is the updated/facelifted Toyota 4Runner. Recently revealed at the Stagecoach Music Festival in California, this revised off-roader from Toyota is set to remind people the existence of this forgettable yet capable off-roader…

Let’s be honest, the pre-facelift 4Runner have a pretty smart but dull exterior and Toyota have done it right this time with this facelift. With a significantly revised front with newly designed headlights and huge front air intakes, this freshened-up 4Runner will definitely be an intimidating sight in your rear-view-mirror. Hummers look tame in comparison.

Changes to the rear is more subtle, the similarly-shaped rear lights now have new LED clusters and the lower bumper is slightly tweaked. The 4Runner comes in three different trim levels starting with the base SR5, to the top-of-the-line Limited and Trail grade model.

The striking red example you see in these photos comes with the Trail grade spec and it is supposed to provide maximum off-road capability. Trail grade comes with smaller, 17 inch alloy wheels which are more off-road friendly instead of the 20-inch from the Limited trim. And to differentiate it from the other trims, Trail grade also gives you a hood scoop, and silver painted front and rear bumper accents. To be honest, I was expecting genuine metal underbody protection instead of just painting the lower bumpers silver.

Spec the Limited trim and you will get a leather interior with ventilated and heated front driver and passenger seats plus dual-zone climate control over the SR5 and Trail grade’s standard fabric seats and manual air-conditioning system.

Sadly, this facelift is all on the exterior and interior trims and there are no technical upgrades to the SUV. Powering the facelifted 4Runner is the same 4.0 liter V6 petrol engine with 270hp and 278 lb-ft (376 Nm) of torque and customers can choose from a rear-wheel-drive 4×2 model, to a part time 4×4, or permanent 4×4 with locking differential for more serious off-roading and minimum fuel efficiency.
