Performance focused Porsche limo revealed!

Do you find the base 300hp Panamera a bit too slow, the insane 550hp Panamera Turbo S a bit too much, but the middle range 400hp Panamera S is just not exciting enough? Well, Porsche just included a new variant which should fill up that already small gap. Please welcome the Panamera GTS!

The nomenclature Gran Turismo Sport, or GTS in short have been used by Porsche for quite a while on their cars recently to signify their performance oriented nature. Notable Porsche models such as the previous generation Cayenne as well as the previous 911 model are some of the models which had been GTS-ed, and now we have the Panamera GTS.

Don’t get me wrong, GTS is not the top-of-the-line model for Porsche models, but it is just the more performance and handling focused version. As for the Panamera GTS, you’d get the supposedly best handling Panamera across the range, a bit more powerful than the Panamera S, but not as explosive as the overpowered Panamera Turbo S.

Powered by the identical 4.8 liter naturally aspirated petrol engine from the Panamera S, the Panamera GTS develops 30hp more at 430hp thanks to modified intake camshafts with extended valve lift and a new air induction system with two additional air filter modules. The engine management system had also been tweaked to develop more torque quickly. Set the car in SPORT PLUS mode and the Panamera GTS can go from 0-62mph(100kph) in 4.5 seconds and reach a top speed of 179mph (288kph).

To show off it’s performance intentions, the exterior of the Panamera GTS had been made more sporty overall. At the front, you will get standard Bi-Xenon headlights with four integrated LED daytime running spot lights taken from the Panamera Turbo, but the GTS will also get black inserts as well as gloss black surrounds for the headlights for a more aggressive look.

The front bumpers will too get the more sporty SportDesign front apron also taken from the Panamera Turbo with larger air intakes to feed in more air into the aforementioned GTS-specific air filter modules. To finish up it’s overall sportiness, the side air sills, window outer trim, covers of headlight cleaning system, as well as the rear diffuser trim had been covered in high-gloss black. Which should look great with this new GTS-exclusive ‘Carmine Red’ paint job you see here.

That’s not all, the Panamera GTS also gets the Panamera Turbo rear spoiler which extends not just upright at speeds above 55mph (90kph), but also extend itself wider to produce more downforce at high speeds. For increased stability, the Panamera GTS has also been lowered by 10mm. As for stopping power, the braking system is also taken from the Panamera Turbo and is surrounded by standard 19 inch Panamera Turbo rims.

The interior is not spared from the sportiness theme of the outside either. You will get the SportDesign steering wheel with alloyed gearshift paddles as standard, a generous combination of leather and Alcantara covers every inch of the interior with contrasting ‘Carmine Red’ stitching. The seat belts are in ‘Carmine Red’ as well, but the ‘GT Silver’ color are available as well. To top it all off, you will get the “GTS” logo everywhere from the headrest, rev counter, to the aluminium door sills just to remind you the special Panamera you are in.

No prices have been announced yet but expect it to be priced between the Panamera S and the Panamera Turbo. In the meantime enjoy the epic video below as well as a huge photo gallery of the new Porsche Panamera GTS!
