Citroën C4 Aircross’ Peugeot twin brother revealed!

If you had read my previous post about the new Citroën crossover and thought that the revealing of this Peugeot’s new crossover is bit coincidental, well you got it wrong. It is not a coincidence at all, you should know by now when you read the title of this post that Peugeot and Citroën are essentially the same company.

Just like how Volkswagen owns Audi and many other car companies, Peugeot owns Citroën. They both are called PSA Peugeot Citroën. So it is clearly not surprising for both companies to use each other’s engines and technology, but fortunately not sharing their car design. Can you spot any design similarities between this Peugeot and the Citroën C4 Aircross? Me neither…

This is the new Peugeot 4008. Based on how Peugeot name their cars with confusing numbers, we know that the 4008 sits between the smaller 3008 crossover and the much larger 4007 (Wait, what?). Forget about the name and let’s talk about the engines. Actually the engine choices are exactly identical to those you can get from the Aircross.

They may be sharing the same engines but there are a few horsepower difference for some reason. The base 1.6 petrol engine and 1.6 HDi turbodiesel both produces 112hp (Aircross has 110hp for both),  and the 2.0 liter petrol and 1.8 HDi turbodiesel both churns out an identical 150hp. Just like the Aircross, four-wheel-drive will be an option.

So the choice is really up to you. Whether you prefer the more unconventional yet attractive design of the Citroën C4 Aircross, or the more subtle and modern design of the Peugeot 4008. Either choice you are essentially buying the same car with different designs. And because they both are the same company, it’s a win-win for them no matter which model the people decides to buy.
