BMW 1 and 3-Series London 2012 Olympics Performance Edition revealed!

The 2012 London Olympics is coming soon next year. As the official partner of the 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games, there is no better way for BMW to celebrate this than to clear out their remaining stocks of the ageing previous generation 1-Series and the current 3-Series.

In order to sell them, BMW had released them in high-spec Performance Edition which includes the M aerodynamic bodykit, sportier 18-inch alloy wheels, chrome exhaust tips, and Shadowline exterior trims (gloss black window sills and grilles), and of course the London 2012 badges on the side of the car for both the 1-Series and the 3-Series.

The interior changes are also pretty much the same for both models. You will get M Sport multi-function leather steering wheel, gear shifter, sports seats, floor mats, and blue piping for the seats. This special edition package is only available for the 116i, 116d and 118d for the 1-Series, and 318i and 318d for the 3-Series.

The prices for the Performance Edition 1-Series will start at  £19,530 on-the-road for the 116i 3-door. BMW said that the car only cost £1,500 more than the equivalent 1-Series ES and based on the kit you are getting at this price, that’s a total saving of £1,725.

On the other hand, the Performance Edition 3-Series will only cost about £500 more compared to similarly equipped ES models. Prices starts at £23,195 for the 318i Performance Edition saloon. BMW is clearly trying to finish off all of it’s remaining units as the all-new 1-Series had just recently been launched and the replacement of the 3-Series is not far away.
