Four-wheel-drive Ferrari FF Revealed!

Now this is one shocking news, Ferrari had announced their latest replacement for the ugly 612 Scaglietti. The all-new four-wheel-drive Ferrari FF! Meaning Ferrari ‘For Four’, Ferrari is trying to tell us that it seats four and also has four-wheel-drive. Powered by a naturally aspirated 6.3-litre (6.25 to be specific) V12 direct injection engine, this beast will carry 650 bhp @ 8000 rpm and will reach 100km/h in 3.7 seconds. 208 mph is the car’s top speed.

Designed by Pininfarina  under the direction of Ferrari’s chief designer Flavio Manzoni, the FF will uniquely feature a shooting brake body style just like the BMW Z3 Coupe. The FF is also almost identical in dimension to its predeccessor measuring 4907mm long, 1953mm wide and 1374mm high. With a generous 450 liters of boot space for a supercar, the FF gets even more practical with 800 liters with the rear seats folded. Certain MPVs or estates could not even get this much boot space.

Despite being the very first four-wheel-drive Ferrari, the FF weighs 50 kg lighter than the 612 Scaglietti at 1795kg. That is because Ferrari said that their four-wheel-drive system is 50% lighter than conventional ones. The four-wheel-drive system is an on-demand 4×4 and therefore only drives with four wheels when more grip is needed, most of the time however, the FF will only be rear-wheel-drive.

No prices have been announced yet, but expect it to be more expensive than the 612 and will begin production most likely in 2012. The FF will be shown at the upcoming Geneva Motor Show, so please stay tuned for more info!
